In celebration of 10 years of street painting, Youth in Arts presented the most spectacular street painting ever undertaken in the USA - the recreation of the Sistine Chapel ceiling on the street of San Rafael!
Michelangelo's masterpiece spans 33 panels with over 300 figures, a breathtaking expression of his genius and his gift. The completed Street Painting recreation is 25' x 70', approximately half the size of the original. Youth in Arts invited a team of the world's most talented Madonnari (street painters) to collaborate on this awe-inspiring project. They worked together for 5 days to complete what just might rival Michelangelo's own masterpiece.
Tracy Lee Stum was the coordinating artist for this project.
The Festival took place just 25 minutes north of San Francisco at Mission San Rafael Arcangel, where over 400 professional and student Madonnari showcased the performance art of street painting.
